According to Coldplay, everything’s not lost. Well, I hope they’re right because it feels like I’m loosing a lot of stuff right now – just opportunities and my "beloved" voice. And not to mention, democracy in Stroudsburg High School is diminishing as I see candidates hand out candy (or a flower, for that matter) with their main intention for the receivers to vote for them.
Just because you gave me a not-yet-bloomed carnation doesn’t mean I’m going to vote for you. In fact, that just gives me a more reason not to vote for you. All you basically did was attempt to bribe and flatter your classmates. That just depresses me and what you did was just plain ol' stupid. Candy politics, as Vicki would point out. And man, it unfortunately goes a long way. I hate elections.
The real winners are the ones who don’t use their money or allure to manipulate their way through. Instead, they use their devotion to not only help improve their campaign, but the community around them as well.
In other lighter news, Friday was the highlight of my week (or year?). I was with the Company and it couldn’t have been possibly more fun. Maybe I can add two other people or so, then it might have been beyond perfect.
But other then that, I want more trips to Alfredo’s, attempting to skip rocks with my "brother" and BH, punching BH when Arianne does her signature laugh, haphazard urges to climb romantic-looking trees, taking provocative pictures, and going through the creek fast enough before your ride leaves you wet, tired, cold, but best of all, with the one that you love. I had the time of my life and I’m glad that I didn’t take that rain check.
Maybe everything is truly not lost – you just need to grab that something before it disappears.
