For Women's Choir, we are singing a song composed by Brahams entitled, "Der 13 Psalm." I really like the song because I can seriously relate to it. At this current moment, the only song I can relate to is this song. Basically, someone is singing to the Lord asking why the Lord has forsaken that person. And that person keeps on singing on how in such a bad state they are in, then the only thing that is a therapeutic output is singing. And right now, singing is really helping me.
Sure, singing is also distracting me from my work, but whatever. It's been helping cope with all this crazy stuff that is going on.
I have lots of things to reconstruct and it may take awhile. But for now, Ich will dem Herrem singen.
Psalm 13 is a beautiful song and I keep on listening to this link over and over because this is essentially what we are going to be singing this Saturday (minus the strings). I feel that music starts first from the inside. There is an emotional aspect to singing. And when I sing, I try to decipher exactly what I'm singing. The best songs I sing are the ones that I am emotionally attached to. Brahm's "Der 13 Psalm" is no exception.
