Teenagers

Is Hayley Williams right about teenagers? In her debut solo song, "Teenagers", featured on that ridiculous wannabe zombie movie, Jennifer's Body, with the all-too promoted, plastic, fake hair dyed Megan Fox, Williams says us teenagers "don't know anything."

Yeah, I realize that was a pretty long sentence, but despite that, is that true? I mean, as I live through my life, experiencing the craziest things, I've come to realize that with my experiences, I learn. Every experience teaches us. I think they do. No matter how much you screw up with a friend or with a stranger, how amazing your speech went, or how shitty that speech went, you learn from it. It's a pretty cliché thing, really, but what I've noticed is that some people don't learn from their mistakes. Sometimes in society, we are all sucked up into that whole pride business and we think that we're messed up if we weren't perfect. Trust me, I've thought that. (Hence the title of my blog.) I have to soon realize that I cannot achieve perfection. Though, tell that to Nadia Comaneci, the Romanian gymnast who scored the "first" perfect 10 in the 70's. Whatever, when it comes to scoring sports like gymnastics or figure skating, it's all up to interpretation. Let's just hope we can learn from our mistakes, no matter how odd we try to perceive it.

But to say that we don't know anything is completely false. I know some adults may think that. I've had some adults tell me to my face that I don't know anything considering my age. I don't give a shit what they say. I remember when I was a freshman in high school and my friend Jeff, who is now a sophomore at Swarthmore College, wrote an article about teen writers. It's hard for teen writers to get a kick in the business because so many adults will doubt us. It's pretty ridiculous.

But no, we don't know everything. We just know too many things.. like strap ons.

Damn kids.

=)

Oh crap, I'm almost done with my tea. And I wanted it to last for African Art. Crystal Light here I come!
