Insomnia compostions by a 30-day Vegetarian

I am pledging to be a vegan for 30 days. I was on PETA's website earlier in the day (technically yesterday) and I was appalled by how chickens were treated before getting eaten by customers at KFC. It's very sad to think that as much as many people love meat, we do not realize the possible cruelty that comes with it. Sometimes, I just feel that people can just be barbaric animals, so self-consumed in their own little lives. I'm not saying all meat eaters are that way, but I just want us to realize that as much as meat is awesome, we also need to take action against harmful ways - no matter what.

I am ridiculous at playing the Sims. That's possibly the only computer game I play. I used to play a whole lot others, mind games and such. Like this one game was a Barbie detective and I actually had a ton of fun playing that. It was cool being a detective and having this cool magnifying glass that could spot a criminal's "paw" prints! Take that Nancy Drew!

But anyways,  I am also VERY stoked for my boots to be delivered in the mail. It seems as if I'm buying a lot in the internet these days. Maybe I'll get a credit card. We'll see.

These are the boots that I needed/wanted. The company, www.shoe-store.net, was an excellent company and they were ridiculously nice! If I had a question (and let me tell you, I ask a lot of questions), they were always answered helpfully, in a timely manner. I went to another company before, DNS shoes or whatever but they weren't so kind. When Shoe-Store quickly told me that they didn't offer the size 8 shoe, Korey, one of the owners emailed me and offered a discount because they didn't offer the 8! It was really sweet of them, though, I can fit in a 7 too. (My feet can fit in different sizes. I know, I'm weird..haha) I'm always a fan of family-owned businesses, and I'm definitely going there again if I need anymore boots. (Plus, there is ALWAYS free shipping! Isn't that cool or what?) I don't think I'm going to return the boots either, but if I end up doing so, they have a fair return policy too. Which is terrific, especially when sometimes that special shoe, may not be your special size afterall.

Speaking of boots, the boots are Uggs, if you didn't already notice. Pamela Anderson, who is an ardent activist for PETA told people to stop wearing Uggs because they treated sheep like crap. Now, I knew Uggs were made out of sheepskin, but it made me wonder. As much as I love PETA, I also had to do some research myself. Their KFC story was very sad because they had undercover video of a farm that had future KFC chickens. But this time, Pamela Anderson just wrote on her online diary on her website. There was just no evidence that Uggs were harming animals. So this is what I found, in Ugg's defense.

Not one sheep has to be slaughtered to obtain their hide and fleece. The sheepskins are shawn of the sheep back and the sheep regrow their fleece just like humans do hair. It's completely painless for the sheep. I've been told by a few old school Ugg manufacturers that the sheep actually like the experience of feeling free and would prefer to be shawn rather than have to carry a thick woolen coat around with them in the hot summer.

As much as I want to be like Eliza Thornberry and ask the sheep myself, I can't. I just hope that the boots I'll be wearing will be animal-harmed free.

Other than that, Happy 19th Birthday B-Hat! I love you! =)

OH! In other news, the robe I ordered from American Eagle is en route to home! I'll most likely get it today when I wake up! (Whenever that time will be, I have no freaking idea. I really do need to get into a better sleep schedule. I go to sleep when I usually wake up for school when I was in high school. Not good..)

But, if it turns out the robe isn't what I have expected (BH suggested I should get it in the M/L size and in blue), I have the option of returning it to the nearest American Eagle store (Which I have done with underwear.. haha) or exchanging it for a different size or color. So we'll see what happens!! Ugh, and I still have two... no wait THREE money cards to use from there. It basically takes $10 off your next $30 dollar purchase.

Man, I can never have too many clothes. I am such a girl sometimes! =P haha
